In the early nineties while still in school, Matt began working in the construction business as a framer for a local builder.  After high school Matt attended Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas where he studied Engineering Technology and Management.  While attending college, Matt worked the night and weekend shift at a cabinet shop finishing cabinets and often worked as a framer during the summers.  In 1995 Matt returned to Iowa to start his own homebuilding company, which eventually morphed into a subcontractor framing company with over thirty employees and six crews!  Known in the industry for being an honest business man and all-around likeable fellow, Matt was elected three times by his peers to the Des Moines Homebuilders Association Board of Directors.  He also dedicated one year of service to the HBA’s Executive Board as well as the State Board of Directors.  In 2003 Matt was blessed with the opportunity to change the direction of his business into the commercial arena.  With a leap of faith, Matt sold his pneumatic tools in exchange for screw guns and metal-cutting chop saws and A-COM, a subsidiary of Allegro Custom Homes, was born.  In its first three years of business, A-COM successfully completed over 100 commercial contracts.  Anyone who knows Matt also knows he has a giant heart, which often bleeds over into his business life.  A-COM, and Matt personally, have donated countless hours to civic projects such as the Work Release Program, Habitat for Humanity, and the Rebuilding Together Program.  The one thing that has stayed constant throughout Matt’s career is his belief in the two essential “keys” to any company’s success: Personal integrity and commitment to serving the customer.  Matt has demonstrated this belief while building custom homes, framing for area homebuilders, providing employment for hundreds of workers, and now while working for large commercial clients.  Matt’s calm and unyielding commitment to his convictions has made him both successful as well as highly respected by those who hire him, work with him and for him.
